Meet Popeye

Mix Breed • Avlona, Greece

Popeye is one handsome boy with an incredibly resilient spirit. He was rescued from an abusive home in 2021 alongside his sister, Roza, and brought to a shelter where they both successfully beat Leishmaniasis and Ehrlichiosis. Today, he is healthy, fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and his antibody titers remain completely stable.

Though he was saved from his owner, and recovered his health, Popeye faced a devastating heartbreak when Roza was tragically killed in a dog fight at one of the shelters. He lost his best friend and has been on his own ever since. Remarkably, this profound loss hasn't hardened his heart. Having learned how to trust from scratch, Popeye is now wonderfully affectionate and proves every day that he is great with both people and other dogs.

Popeye has survived abuse, severe illness, and the tragic loss of his only companion, yet he still deeply craves human connection. As one of the longest shelter residents, he is more than ready for a home where he can be someone's loyal companion.
